This site is not self-hosted. We use third party platforms, including a content management system (WordPress), email marketing service (MailChimp) and social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram) to enable you to interact with us.

You may access this site without identifying yourself or revealing information that could identify you, however if you sign up for the 30 Day Challenge, interact with us through social media, or subscribe to our newsletter, you may be asked to provide personal information.

We do not collect personal information from children under the age of 13 in the United States, to ensure our compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA).
We do not collect personal information from children under the age of 16 in the European Union, to ensure our compliance with the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).
If you are under the legal age of majority where you reside, please do not provide personal information, even if you may have permission to access this site or use its services under the strict supervision of a parent or legal guardian.

We may collect your personal information to allocate you to an Ocean Community specific to your geographic region, to send you email updates during September, to receive our monthly newsletter or to request your participation in the next 30 Day Challenge.

We collect personal information via these third party platforms in various ways. We do not and will never share any personal information you provide to us through these third party platforms with any other individual, entity or marketing service outside of these platforms.

We will only use or disclose your personal information for the purpose we collected it, for any related purpose as required to provide our services, to maintain contact with you, to enforce our Terms of Service, to protect our or others’ rights, or as otherwise permitted by law.

We respect your privacy and the confidential nature of your personal information. We take all reasonable steps to ensure your personal information is kept secure, accurate and up-to-date, however you should be aware of the risk involved in transmitting information over the internet.
You understand and acknowledge that your personal information is processed and stored by third-party platforms, and that it is their responsibility to manage any data breaches should they occur. We will notify you of any such data breaches if, and when, they may occur.
6.3. Consent to receive electronic information
We will always ask your permission to communicate electronically with you. Emails you have previously consented to receive include a link in the footer where you can ‘unsubscribe’ from our services at any time and opt out of receiving any further communication from us.
When you sign up for the Seafood Free September 30 Day Challenge, we retain your details for one year. We will contact you in August the following year to ask you if you would like to participate again. If you do not, we will remove your email address from our database.
When you subscribe to receive our monthly newsletter, we retain your personal information for as long as it is necessary for us to continue to provide our services to you, or so we can ensure continued compliance with our legal, privacy and confidentiality responsibilities.
6.4. Access and correction to personal information
You have the right to request access to your personal information, or to add, change or delete your personal information if it is inaccurate, out-of-date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading. We may need to verify your identity. We do not charge a fee to provide this service to you.

When you sign up for the Seafood Free September 30 Day Challenge, or subscribe by email to receive our newsletter, you acknowledge and agree your personal information may be sent electronically via third-party computer networks in cross-border internet transmission.

As Seafood Free September is based in Melbourne, Australia, we are bound by the Australian Privacy Principles. These thirteen (13) principles amend the Privacy Act 1988 and replace the Information Privacy Principles contained in the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (VIC).
