This Privacy Policy sets out how we treat personal information when you interact with us. We value and respect the privacy of our visitors, followers and subscribers and we are committed to ensuring the personal information we collect from users is kept safe and secure.

You may access this site without identifying yourself or revealing information that could identify you, however if you sign up for the 30 Day Challenge, interact with us through social media, or subscribe to our newsletter, you may be asked to provide personal information.

We do not collect personal information from children under the age of 13 in the United States, to ensure our compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA).

We do not collect personal information from children under the age of 16 in the European Union, to ensure our compliance with the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).

If you are under the legal age of majority where you reside, please do not provide personal information, even if you may have permission to access this site or use its services under the strict supervision of a parent or legal guardian.

If a person has any reason to believe a child under the legal age of majority has provided their personal information to us, please contact us to request deletion of that personal information.

We do not collect personal sensitive information about health status, gender, ethnicity or religion. We may collect personal information about age to confirm our users are over the legal age of majority, to comply with online privacy protection laws for children.

We may collect your personal information to allocate you to an Ocean Community specific to your geographic region, to send you email updates during September, to receive our monthly newsletter or to request your participation in the next 30 Day Challenge.

5.5. How do we collect personal information?

We collect personal information via these third party platforms in various ways. We do not and will never share any personal information you provide to us through these third party platforms with any other individual, entity or marketing service outside of these platforms.

  • A ‘Subscribe by Email’ service to sign up to receive our monthly newsletter
  • A ‘Take the Pledge’ button to register for the 30 Day Challenge

We will always ask your permission to communicate electronically with you. Emails you have previously consented to receive include a link in the footer where you can ‘unsubscribe’ from our services at any time and opt out of receiving any further communication from us.

When you sign up for the Seafood Free September 30 Day Challenge, we retain your details for one year. We will contact you in August the following year to ask you if you would like to participate again. If you do not, we will remove your email address from our database.   

When you subscribe to receive our monthly newsletter, we retain your personal information for as long as it is necessary for us to continue to provide our services to you, or so we can ensure continued compliance with our legal, privacy and confidentiality responsibilities.

6.4. Access and correction to personal information

You have the right to request access to your personal information, or to add, change or delete your personal information if it is inaccurate, out-of-date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading. We may need to verify your identity. We do not charge a fee to provide this service to you.

7. COMPLIANCE WITH GLOBAL DATA PROTECTION LAWS

7.1. Cross-border internet transmission

When you sign up for the Seafood Free September 30 Day Challenge, or subscribe by email to receive our newsletter, you acknowledge and agree your personal information may be sent electronically via third-party computer networks in cross-border internet transmission.

As Seafood Free September is based in Melbourne, Australia, we are bound by the Australian Privacy Principles. These thirteen (13) principles amend the Privacy Act 1988 and replace the Information Privacy Principles contained in the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (VIC).

We reserve the right to vary or modify this Privacy Policy at any time and at our discretion, by posting the revised Privacy Policy on the relevant page. We may provide notice to you of amendments using the contact information you have previously agreed to provide to us.

An updated version of our Privacy Policy will be effective immediately upon the posting of the revised Privacy Policy and will apply to your use of this site from the posting date.
